Psychological consulting
The goal of psychological counseling is to create a safe space where a person can better understand and express their emotions, address and explore personal and interpersonal issues. During psychological counseling, a child or adolescent is invited to talk about topics important to them. The psychologist, using scientific knowledge, professional experience, and empathy, helps the child or adolescent feel accepted, offers support, and strengthens personal resources. In sessions, various tools such as drawings or games are often used, especially when children or adolescents find it difficult to express their experiences in words.
Counseling for Children and Adolescents (up to 14 years)
Psychological counseling services for children and adolescents are usually offered when it is observed that a child or adolescent:
- Experiences difficulties in relationships with peers
- Has issues in relationships with other family members
- Struggles to adapt to a new environment or life changes
- Lacks self-confidence
- Shows emotional difficulties (anxiety, depression, loneliness, etc.)
- Finds it hard to control anger or aggression
- Struggles with self-realization and identity exploration during adolescence
Counseling is also recommended when:
- Parents find it challenging to maintain boundaries with the child or adolescent
- Parents face difficulties establishing a warm and fulfilling relationship with the child or adolescent
- The family is going through a crisis period, such as loss, divorce, or other challenging times
Parental Counseling
When working with children and adolescents, the psychologist also closely communicates with their parents. If needed, counseling is provided to parents regarding child upbringing, family relationships, and problem-solving. Active parental involvement in the counseling process for children and adolescents is an important factor that fosters positive changes within the family and the child’s well-being.
Youth Counseling (from 14 to 29 years)
Psychological counseling is provided for young people who wish to better understand themselves, address and resolve personal and interpersonal relationship difficulties. Young people typically seek psychological counseling to:
- Better understand their personality and life path
- Improve relationships with close ones
- Enhance emotional self-regulation, understand, and connect with their feelings
- Strengthen self-confidence and self-esteem
